Matthew H. Kodsi M.D., Ph.D.

Matt Kodsi would tell you that his passion for understanding purpose, motivation, and behavior started with his love for theater and his participation in a number of productions before going to UNC-Chapel Hill for his undergraduate degree in Biology. That curiosity led him to pursue a combined M.D. and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of California San Diego, Neurology Residency at Emory University, and a Fellowship in Behavioral Neurology at the University of Florida Gainesville. He then moved to Chattanooga, TN where he provided care for Alzheimer's patients and their families for 17 years. During that time he also served as Medical Director of Neurology, Chief of Staff, and Physician Advisor at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He transitioned from clinical practice to Vice President of Medical Affairs at CHI in late 2019. He continued in this role through the implementation of Epic as their first electronic medical record and then through the COVID pandemic. In 2022 he took on the role of Chief Medical Officer and focused on work to improve the well-being of those at the bedside. In 2024 he took his passion for well-being and leader development with him to the Hudson Institute of Coaching when he enrolled in the certification program. He now works as a contract coach for MEDI Leadership and continues to strive for a better and more mutually supportive work environment for clinicians and the executives who collaborate with them. It's worth mentioning that he's also returned to the theater and is involved with productions at the local Chattanooga Theater Centre.
